Admissions

We welcome applications from parents and carers at any time. Applications can be made directly online using our online application form.  We advise families to read our Admissions Policy prior to completing their application. All places are offered in line with the Surrey Admissions Policy for Nursery Schools.

Admissions information

  • Please note, applications do not work on a 'first come first served basis'. All applications will close in January prior to the September start date and be considered by the Admissions Panel of the Governing Body.
  • To apply for a place, please complete the online application form, which will submit your application in the round as detailed above.  
  • Please note, there is no onsite parking at Dorking Nursery School. Any family choosing to send their child to Dorking Nursery School will need to adhere to this. 
  • We strongly recommend that you telephone us to arrange to come and see the nursery as well. To arrange a visit, please call the office - contact us or use our online form to arrange a visit.
  • Our fees are reviewed annually. Fees for September 2025-26 can be accessed on this link.

Admission to the 2-3s Nursery

Our 2-3s Nursery is open in the morning and afternoon.  Depending on how children are being funded as to the sessions that are offered.  All places are allocated in line with the admissions criteria detailed in our Admissions Policy. 

1. Early Learning for Two Year Old* places (previously known as FEET) - available Monday to Friday, either morning places 8.45am - 11.45am or afternoon places 12.30pm - 3.30pm.  

2. Working entitlement places* - available Monday to Friday, 8.45am - 2.45pm.

3. Fee paying places - available across any three days. 

Any hours over and above these sessions are charged at a fee and are subject to availability. Fees are updated and reviewed annually.

*families must be able to provide the valid funding code for a WPE or Early Learning for Two year olds place. See our Understanding funded entitlements page for more information.

Admission to the 3-5s Nursery

All places are allocated in line with the admissions criteria detailed in our Admissions Policy. All three and four year old are eligible for Universal Funded entitlement of 15 hours per week. 

Children are allocated either a morning (8.45am to 11.45am) or afternoon (12.30pm to 3.30pm) place. Working Parent Entitlement* places are 8.45am - 2.45pm.  Sessions are funded and children must attend five sessions per week Monday to Friday.

Any hours over and above these sessions are charged at a fee and are subject to availability. Fees are updated and reviewed annually.

Additional sessions in the 2-3s and 3-5s Nursery

Any sessions outside of funded entitlement are subject to a fee, see above. Fees are reviewed and updated annually. 

Lunch club - available Monday to Friday, 11.45am - 12.30pm. Price includes a hot school lunch.

Extended day - available Monday to Friday 8.45am - 12.30pm or 11.45am - 3.30pm.

Late pick up - available Monday to Friday 2.45pm - 3.30pm. 

Admissions under SEND Criteria 2

Admissions for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities are made directly to the school in the same way as the 2-3s and 3-5s Nursery.  Parents wishing their child to be considered for a place under Admissions Criteria 2, (Social, medical, additional or special need) will need to indicate this on their application form and submit supporting evidence from relevant professionals, such as paediatricians, speech and language therapists, etc. For more information about Special Educational Needs and Disabilities at Dorking Nursery School, please visit our SEND page

Funded entitlements 

If you think you might be eligible for any of the funded entitlements, please use the links below. We will not be able to offer any *Early Learning for Two Year Old or *Working Entitlement Places without a valid code.
